Joaquin Miller Park is a beautiful gem in Oakland where singletrack trails zoom through the trees. This is a ride designed for Beginners to Early Intermediate riders who are working on developing skills and exploring the trails. Not sure of your level? Check here.
Plan for about 8 miles of trails – with the option to add on more if desired! Almost all of the trails are covered in shade from the beautiful trees. We plan to ride a loop which includes a gentle climb leading up to some swoopy downhill options. Riders are encouraged to “session” sections such as switchbacks, roots, rocks, and steep descents. This is a great park to build skills and enjoy a summer day in the trees!
Meeting location: We will meet in a parking lot that is just south of the Chabot Space and Science Center located on Skyline Blvd. PLEASE NOTE: the location listed above may not be precise so please check beforehand – follow these directions and post in the comments below if you need more info. From Hwy 13 (Warren Fwy) in Oakland, head east on Joaquin Miller Road. Turn left onto Skyline Blvd, traveling north. Continue up Skyline Blvd past Roberts Recreation Area. The parking area is on the right behind a little old building with a horse on it. 😉 (if you get to the Chabot Space and Science Center, you’ve gone too far!)
Bring a mountain bike in good working condition, helmet, and water. Snacks, full suspension bike and flat pedals might make the ride more fun!
There are no bathrooms or water here so plan ahead!
Rain cancels the ride.
Questions? Carpool? Directions?? Post below!
Hope to ride with you soon!
