MTB: Night Ride – Lake Chabot

Love mountain biking but sad it’s dark after work?  Wanna try something new?  Join us for a mountain bike ride … at NIGHT!

Lake Chabot is easily accessible for the East Bay, right off Hwy 580 near Castro Valley, and part of the East Bay Regional Park system.  Trails in the east bay are open until 10 pm.  The entrance gate to the parking lot closes at 6 pm, but there is plenty of parking just outside the entrance on the street.

We will be riding the basic bike-loop counter-clockwise, about 12.5 miles total.  The trails are mostly fast rolling fire road with a few paved sections.  Lake Chabot is a safe, fun place with gorgeous lake views to try out mountain biking at night!

This is a no-drop, BEGINNER level ride. *However, this is a longer mileage ride with some climbing.  You should have knowledge of basic trail riding and be comfortable riding for 2-3 hours at a social pace with stops – but beginner level technical skills are fine.  Not sure of your level?  Check here.

All women are welcome to join – you will need a bike in good working condition, helmet, water, and snacks.  LIGHTS are required.  You may consider a two light system – bar light and helmet light.  Mountain bikes are recommended.

Rain cancels the ride – please check back here for info if this looks to be the case. Trails at Lake Chabot remain very rideable after rain – but we’d rather not ride while it’s raining at night.

We hope you can join us!  This is a great way to continue mountain biking into the fall and winter months – and a fun way to level up your mountain biking skills.
