Artist's Statement
I'm Lorri Lee Lown. I'm a professional cycling coach in San Francisco, CA and I founded a women's cycling organization called Velo Girls. I absolutely love to ride -- road, mountain, cyclocross, you name it! Cycling was my hobby for many years before I became a coach, so when cycling became my job, I realized I needed a new hobby!
Since I started riding, I've been on a quest for unique, creative bicycle jewelry. I've always liked the concept behind spoke nipple bracelets -- create a piece of jewelry that uses an actual piece of bicycle componentry -- but most of the ones I've seen have been uninspired, poorly made, or very masculine in design. I decided to design beautiful, colorful, jewelry-quality bracelets for my friends and got so hooked on the process that I'm now offering them to the general public.
Each bracelet is completely unique – a one-of-a-kind creation. I use high-quality beading wire, silver crimps and clasps, and the finest glass beads from around the world.
Designs range from whimsical to traditional to industrial in a wide range of colors and styles. Each is adorned with genuine spoke nipples, integrated as part of the design, not as an after-thought.
